Film & Stage
Independence
The separations the Film & Stage Awards is being built to maintain between recognition and every commercial, editorial and ecosystem relationship.
Central principle
Recognition by the Film & Stage Awards is governed by Awards standards and processes, not by advertising, sponsorship, editorial coverage, commercial participation or relationships with other Film & Stage properties.
Governance documents will be published as adopted. Until a body is formally constituted, it is described here as part of the founding framework and must not be understood to be operating.
Separations
Where the line is drawn.
Commercial
Sponsorship does not purchase governance or Awards outcomes. Commercial partners may support the Awards where approved, but sponsorship alone confers no authority to select nominees or recipients, alter ballots, alter eligibility decisions, override conflicts decisions or access confidential results.
Editorial
Film & Stage Magazine and Film & Stage TV may cover the Awards editorially. Editorial decisions do not determine Awards outcomes, Awards decisions are not conditioned on favourable coverage, and recognition does not guarantee coverage.
Film & Stage Network
Membership, profiles, professional status or commercial participation in Film & Stage Network confers no eligibility, voting right, nomination or recipient status. Any future professional-verification role would be formally governed and separate from commercial membership benefits.
Week, Festival & Global Market
Screening, performance, attendance, exhibition, sponsorship or commercial participation in Film & Stage Week, Film & Stage Festival or Film & Stage Global Market does not purchase Awards recognition. Any qualifying mechanism would be established transparently through official Rules.
Film & Stage Walk of Fame
The Awards and the Walk of Fame may share brand ownership, administration, communications, media infrastructure and limited non-voting liaison. They do not share selection committees, nomination decisions, voting or recipient decisions. Neither recognition automatically produces the other.
Selection independence
What selection must be protected from.
The nomination and selection mechanism itself is established through official Rules. The governance architecture is being prepared to protect it from the influences listed here.
- Commercial interference
- Sponsor interference
- Advertiser interference
- Editorial interference
- Founder interference in individual outcomes
- Vote trading
- Undisclosed conflicts
- Improper lobbying
Accounting oversight
A professional function, not an artistic one.
Capital Directors is the designated accounting firm within the intended Film & Stage Awards accounting-oversight framework. It is not the Awards Council, the artistic selection body, the eligibility authority or the owner of Awards results. No Film & Stage Awards ballot has been conducted, and no result has been counted, certified, audited or verified.
Boundary principles in preparation
- Separation of duties
- Confidentiality
- Controlled access
- Result custody
- Procedural verification
- Documented exceptions
Sensitive operational security procedures are not published.
Rules — Accounting OversightAppeals & review
A person materially involved in an original disputed decision should not solely determine its appeal. The architecture is prepared for appropriately independent review; no appeal panel, panel size, deadline or threshold has been adopted.
