The Film & Stage Awards Council is being constituted as part of the Awards' founding governance framework. Appointments, terms of reference and governance documents will be published here as they are formally made and adopted.

No Council members, chair, officers or committee members have been appointed. Nothing on this page should be read as an appointment, an office or an adopted constitutional rule.

Potential responsibilities

Policy oversight, not artistic selection.

The Council architecture is prepared for the responsibilities below. Approving policy is distinct from applying that policy to an individual Awards outcome; the Council is not structured to select each nominee or recipient.

Composition framework

Expertise across both worlds.

Film and Stage are equal foundational worlds. Governance must not subordinate Stage to Film or Film to Stage. Equality of standing does not require mechanically identical committee structures where the industries genuinely require different expertise.

No number of Council members has been fixed and no quota has been adopted. The areas below are the expertise the composition record is capable of documenting.

Independence will carry an explicit adopted definition. A person is not independent merely because they are not employed by Film & Stage.
Specialist
Expertise in a defined discipline, craft or governance field.

Ownership rights

Ownership of the Awards property, brand and commercial rights is retained by Film & Stage.

Council participation

Any founder participation in governance will be recorded in the public governance register.

Reserved matters concern the institution, not the result of any individual award.

Conflict requirements

Founder participation is subject to the same disclosure requirements as any other participant.

Recusal requirements

Where a conflict applies, withdrawal from discussion, materials, recommendation, review or vote may be required.

No founder titles or voting rights have been assigned. Founder status is not an entitlement to control an individual Awards outcome.

What a published profile will hold.

Profiles will be presented as restrained editorial biography rather than a corporate team grid. No placeholder people, silhouettes or generated portraits are used, and private contact information is never published.
